Bundle

The two works, ‘Bundle' and '1830 Weeks of Shelter, Strengthen Me' speak of shelter as both external and internal: the home built around us, and the home we can learn to carry within.

Bundle is the cast of my body within a shawl made by women for women. It is a fabric spoken about like a second skin or extension of the body, a protection from the elements, an emancipation for work to hold babies in its folds, a fabric that strengthens each time it was washed with a stone, that is passed down the generations or wrapped around the body at the end of life.
