Blinkers for Protection Against Hypersensitivity

Blinkers for Protection Against Optical Hypersensitivity is made from hundreds of tiny stones and grains of sand, and is a facial ‘armour’ which reduces the field of vision and aids self-containment during moments of anxiety. Modelled on the interior of hands, the Blinkers hold the face and, in doing so, block peripheral vision. Each stone serves as a small marker for the thousands of nervous gestures, apprehensions, and passing discomforts that quietly structure daily existence. The stones acknowledge what is rarely mourned: the cumulative toll of vigilance, anticipation, and unease; invisible, transient, and difficult to name. Gathered together, these fragments form a protective mask that is also a memorial, carrying the weight of countless minor sorrows while offering a space of refuge from them.
