Flock
Flock is an ephemeral meditation on loss and the impossibility of containing it. Formed through steam on heat-sensitive paper, the work captures the blurred ascent of a flock of birds, shapes dissolving like smoke, hovering between presence and absence. Drawn into the surface are delicate outlines of birds and wings, emerging and vanishing within the abstraction, as if attempting to give form to something that resists being held. The work speaks to the ineffability of trauma, the way it evades clear edges, impossible to grasp fully, like trying to put a fence around smoke. It is also a reflection on memory that refuses to settle, on histories that dissipate yet remain. The birds rise like breath, like the smoke of loss, both fleeting and enduring.
